Cristiano Ronaldo has denied reports he is close to signing a new deal at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese star wrote on his official pages on the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook: 'All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false'. This latest twist in the Ronaldo transfer sage indicated that the prolific striker is seeking an exit from the Spanish giants, with a return to Old Trafford hotly tipped to be his next destination should a transfer materialise.

Madrid president Florentino Perez has expressed that Ronaldo will remain at the club on numerous occasions, despite no word of his future coming from the player himself: until now. Ronaldo has endured a turbulant time at Madrid and feels unloved and 'sad'.

Reports suggest Manchester United, PSG and Monaco are all preparing bids, with United favourites due to his previous links with the club, coupled with the support he received from the fans on his first return to club earlier in the season.

Although Ronaldo may simply be holding Madrid to ransom in order to attain a better contract, he has looked unhappy at the club for several months. With Bale supposedly on his way to Madrid, the Spanish giants may be willing to let his go if a bid of the right stature is recevied.
