Champions League final Barcelona v Manchester United Kick-off: Wed May 27, 7.45pm, Olympic Stadium, Rome, Italy TV: Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports HD1, ITV1, ITV HD Radio: BBC Radio Five Live Real had been expected to make renewed efforts to sign the United winger at the end of the season after failing to win a lengthy battle for his signature 12 months ago. With former president Florentino Perez, the architect of Real's galacticos policy, expected to win next month's presidential elections at the club, another summer of moves to lure Ronaldo from Old Trafford had been viewed as inevitable by senior figures at United. But speaking to Spanish channel Antena 3, Ronaldo said that he expected to start the 2009-10 season as a United player rather than at the Bernabeu with Real. Ronaldo said: "At the moment I'm only thinking about the [Champions League] final, independently of what will happen to me or my team-mates next season. "I'm sure Perez would create an incredible team at Madrid but, at the moment, I'm at United and I don't care about what happens there. I only care about what will happen next season at Manchester United." Real's pursuit of Ronaldo last summer, fuelled by regular statements from former president Ramon Calderon and a public admission from the player of his ambition to move to Madrid, soured relations between the two clubs. The rift has deepened this season, with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson saying in December: "I wouldn't sell a virus to that mob." But despite Real's clear desire to sign Ronaldo, United chief executive David Gill insisted earlier this week that the Premier League champions had not altered their stance. "He is not for sale. He is a great player and he is part of our club. "We made it clear last year. He is on a long-term contract with us and I can assure you that [the issue of his future] has never come up."
