Cristiano Ronaldo not as good as Wayne Rooney says Dimitar Berbatov

Left in complete awe of his teammate's ability, Berbatov believes that Rooney, who since the departure of Ronaldo has adopted a new and preferred central role in United's set up, stands to become the best player in Europe. Not wanting to take anything away from what Ronaldo did for United before his record breaking £80 million transfer to Real Madrid this summer, Berbatov told the Sun: 'Ronaldo was a fantastic player for us and I'm sure he will be very good for Real Madrid. But for me our biggest talent is and always was even last season Wayne Rooney. 'He's an incredible talent and will be one of the best players in Europe for many years to come. "The scary thing with Wayne is he is four or five years off his peak and, when you see the level he's at now, that is almost impossible to get your head around." Bulgaria international, Berbatov, who this week received the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson after a slow start to his career at United, also praised Rooney's attitude towards football and said his ability to consistently improve his game never ceases to amaze the Old Trafford contingent. 'Wayne just loves to play football," he continued. "It was what he was born to do and you can see that. He's not concerned about any of the glamour that goes with it. "He amazes us on the training pitch almost every day and his hunger seems to get bigger with every game. "His attitude and love for the game reminds me of a child who could spend all day in the park with nothing but a football."
