Could former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas make a move to Manchester United?

It is now rumoured that Barcelona and former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas could soon be paired with Michael Carrick in the Manchester United midfield.

Fabregas has not been able to make much headway at Barcelona and has faced much criticism after his £35 million move two years ago. Fabregas has found it hard to find playing time and has been left out of the starting XI on numerous occasions. Barcelona are looking to do a little spring cleaning and rebuilding after being embarrassed in the Champions League semi-final. It doesn't look like Fabregas is part of Barcelona’s future plans.

Arsenal has first option to buy Fabregas back if he were to be sold and Arsene Wenger has said he hopes that one day Fabregas would return to the Emirates. United are said to be aggressively pursuing Fabregas to fill the hole left behind by the retirement of Paul Scholes. Arsenal could use Fabregas but are in much more need of a dynamic striker to play front and centre.

With “want away” Wayne Rooney looking to move on from United could not a deal be put together that both teams get what they want. Arsenal is looking to spend money this summer but have several needs. It has been said that goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny may be on his way out and that Arsenal are currently looking for his replacement. If Arsenal is able to save a few pounds on a Rooney/Fabregas deal, Arsenal could then free up money to spend elsewhere.

United need to deal with their midfield issues once and for all and with the addition of someone like a Cesc Fabregas coming in, this would help United greatly next season as they defended their Premier League Crown.
