Manchester United's Tom Cleverley is set to get back into the first team on Saturday if he manages a game in the reserves today without any problems.

The England U21 international is due to take part in a game for the United reserves on Thursday at Carrington.

The player will be watched closely by Alex Ferguson and if he comes through the game with no problems then he could be named as a substitute for the clash with Liverpool.

The match was originally due to take place in Altrincham, but was switched to Carrington because the Moss Lane ground is unplayable because of heavy frost.

Cleverley was pencilled in to play for the reserves against Chelsea on Monday, only for the game to be postponed due to bad weather.
