United striker Wayne Rooney
says that the main contenders to try and knock the Reds off top spot next season will again be Chelsea. Chelsea’s season this time around was very poor by their standards and what looked to be a very promising start for the Blues, fizzled out towards the end of the campaign. Manchester City are expected to flood even more money into buying players as they once again try to purchase a trophy, and while their fans get excited about the possibility of winning the league, Rooney insists it’s still Chelsea who have the upper hand. "Chelsea will be our main rivals for the league next season," Rooney told talkSPORT. "They are so strong and powerful and ended the season so well." Rooney does accept it will be tougher than ever next term though. "Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal will all be fighting for top four," he added. "It makes it even more intense. It wouldn't surprise you if any of those teams finished in the top two. The teams in the lower half have improved. Going away from home was so difficult this season."
