Champions League final 2009: Manchester United v Barcelona is 'dream final'

Giggs has played in, and won, two Champions League finals already - the first against Bayern Munich in 1999 and the second against Chelsea last year - but the Welshman believes tonight's match will eclipse both of those, especially if United do what no other team has done and retain the title. Giggs said: "It is the dream final. United and Barcelona are two massive clubs, with massive histories, who play football the right way and who have so many great individuals. "No taking anything away from last year (facing Chelsea in the final), but I want to play against the top teams from other countries and there is no bigger than Barcelona. "I hope it is a free-flowing game - attack, defend, attack, defend - and lots of goals, but sometimes two teams cancel each other out. It could be 4-4 or 0-0." Victory tonight would put United level with Ajax and Bayern Munich on four European Cup wins and Sir Alex Ferguson believes the experience of playing on football's biggest stage will stand his players in good stead at the Olympic Stadium. Ferguson said: "I think you're better to have experience than not to have it. The plus side for Pep (Guardiola) is he is at a great football club with great history and has a great record in European football. "What we do with the ball and how we keep it will decide the game. That will be crucial. When the chips were down in the quarter-final in Porto we rose to that fantastic performance. "In our semi-final second leg at the Emirates, when Arsenal had never lost there, the team showed its capabilities again. They didn't play beyond themselves. "What you've seen over the past couple of years is a maturity. Going to Japan for the Club World Cup and coming back and winning at Stoke on Boxing Day told you something about the team's character."
