Cavani to replace Robin van Persie in summer shake-up

Van Persie has been largely anonymous this season by his own standards with an injury picked up in the game against Swansea leaving the Dutch striker sidelined for six matches and counting.

Robin van Persie earns £200,000 a week and United fans will consider that money well spent after he ensured the Red Devils won the title in his debut season but the 31-year-old has struggled this season despite talk of the excellent the relationship he and van Gaal would forge with a new approach to winning.

According to reports in the Mirror and elsewhere it seems that United may not be entirely satisfied with how things are going and are growing increasingly concerned with the injury situation. It doesn't stop there with the club even thinking about new personnel in the form of Edinson Cavani coming in to replace the Dutchman.

Edinson Cavani has been linked with a number of clubs over the past few transfer windows and is expected to cost any potential suitor in the region of £40m and after his touchline spat after being substituted by Blanc at the weekend it could be on the cards.

The 28-year-old Uruguay international made his name at Napoli where he scored an impressive 104 goals in this three season spell with the Serie A outfit but has still scored a respectable number at PSG with 43 so far in almost two seasons.
