Carrick's Big Chance

Michael Carrick looks like he will get the chance to re-establish himself into the United starting line up when he takes to the field against Benfica on Wednesday night. Tom Cleverley has managed to dislodge Carrick from his place in the side with some stunning displays after returning to the club, clearly benefitting from loan spells. Cleverley’s ankle injury at Bolton on Saturday gives Carrick his big chance and he won’t be the only change it is thought Sir Alex will be making to the side. Darren Fletcher, Ryan Giggs, Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia are all set to take their place in the starting line up. “It’s really disappointing for Tom after the way he has been playing,” said Carrick. “He has been great. All the young lads have come out flying and fair play to them. “It hasn’t just been me who has had to wait. You have to be patient. Now that the Champions League has started again we will all be needed.”
