Carrick - In Fergie we trust
Michael Carrick insists everyone at Manchester United trusts and respects manager Sir Alex Ferguson's judgement.
The midfielder has started just two Premier League matches this season with Ferguson utilising other members of his squad ahead of the England international.
However, the former Tottenham and West Ham ace was the Red Devils' hero in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League victory against Wolfsburg as he struck the winning goal.
And Carrick never thought he had slipped out of favour with the Scot and accepts that squad rotation will occur with the club chasing silverware on four fronts.
Fresh
He said: "Just because you sit out one or two games doesn't mean he's fallen out with you - it's just a case of looking at the long haul and making sure everyone is fresh throughout the season.
"You can get a little bit frustrated but you trust the manager. Of course I want to play every game but it's a long season and you have got to be patient.
"Look around the squad at the quality we have and no one is going to play every week. I've been here long enough that I know how things work.
"I have been in and out but that's just how it is, everyone is going to be the same.
"We trust the manager and the teams he picks and it works. As long as we are successful at the end of the season everyone's happy."
Tough
Ryan Giggs is eager for United to remain on top of the pile going into the international break with Chelsea breathing down the Red Devils' necks.
"We want to go into that with a win under our belt and make sure that we stay top of the league over the international break," said Giggs.
"If we put in a good performance against Sunderland that's what will happen - it's at home and it will be a tough game like every game in the Premiership but if we play like we did against Wolfsburg we should be OK."
