Captain Rooney's new record deal contract with United

It will come as no surprise in the next day or two when Manchester United reveal that Wayne Rooney has agreed a new deal with the Champions to remain at Old Trafford beyond 2015.

The new long term deal will likely insure that the England striker sees out his career with United and as well as becoming the highest paid player in the Premier League ahead of Liverpool's scoring machine, Luis Suarez. Currently, Rooney earns a whopping £250,000 a week and this figure is expected to increase to as much as £300,000, according to some reports. On top of this, he will be handed the captaincy as Moyes will be putting his faith in the 28 year old to spearhead the team back in the right direction.

After their 2-0 victory against lowly Cardiff on Tuesday evening, there is an heir of optimism creeping back into the minds of the Old Trafford faithful. Yes, the victory was against the current worst team in the league but any win for Moyes’s men was vital to keep their chances of finishing in the top four alive.

United are still only a shadow of the team they were last season and need at least four or five more top class players if they want to seriously compete with the current top four teams in the league. Only time will tell if Juan Mata can save their season but I firmly believe that their reign at the top is all but over for the foreseeable future. #YNWA
