Cantona persuaded me to return to England, says Birmingham's Vignal
Gregory Vignal swapped one bullring for another after Eric Cantona persuaded him not to give up on English football.
The left-back, signed by Alex McLeish on a season's loan from Lens, made his return last Sunday at Old Trafford as he kicked-off a new chapter of his career at Birmingham City.
He acquitted himself well during the defeat and now hopes that a few words from the Gallic legend not to turn his back on the Premier League will begin to bear fruit at St Andrew's when he makes his full home debut against former club Portsmouth.
Vignal, 28, was happy to link up once more with McLeish, his manager at Rangers, although it was an afternoon at the 'Corridas' with Cantona in which he was told that he needed to return across the Channel at all costs.
