Business as usual for Scholes

Paul Scholes insists Manchester United will continue in their business as usual manner even if they wrap up the league against Arsenal. The Red Devils play host to the Gunners on Saturday knowing if defeat is avoided an 18th league crown will be theirs. Scholes, who has already collected eight Premier League winners' medals under boss Sir Alex Ferguson, is relishing the thought of adding another and is desperate to land it for the forthcoming fixture against the Arsene Wenger's Londoners. The 34-year-old admits United's attentions will then turn, first, to a UEFA Champions League final date against Barcelona before plotting title No. 19 next term but the long-serving midfielder is adamant he is only focusing on the weekend fixture. Focussed "I never think about the wider picture," said Scholes, who started in Wednesday's win at Wigan. "I just think about what I am involved in at the minute. Whatever has happened before has gone. "I am sure if we manage to win the league tomorrow a few days later we will be thinking about next year." Scholes, along with the likes of Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, sprouted from the fruitful United academy back in the early 90s. David Beckham, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville also came from the same youth development and all six were involved in some pretty spectacular comebacks down the years, a trait that continues to this day. After the late smash and grab raid on Aston Villa at the beginning of last month and the sensational five-goal second-half display against Tottenham three weeks later, the 2-1 midweek reply against the Latics was rather routine. ConfidenceBut Scholes admits the confidence that courses through the Red Devils camp ensures no-one will ever accept being beaten while there is still a ball left to be kicked. "Every lad here is quite confident in their ability and confident that if they are in a sticky situation they can get out of it," said the former England star. "Whatever situation has been put in front of them, they always come up with the answers. "Against Villa it looked like we were going to get beaten and we won it. Tottenham were 2-0 up but as soon as we get a goal and start to come back at teams, we feel we can get three or four."
