Chance to play? United striker Federico Macheda

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is being chased by Serie A side Bologna.

The relegation-threatened club want the teenager on loan for the remainder of the season.

Macheda's first-team appearances for United have been limited since he hit the headlines last season after scoring a last minute winner against Aston Villa.

The arrival of Michael Owen has not helped Macheda chances and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson may feel five months in Serie A would help the 18-year-old who would return to Old Trafford for the start of next season more experienced.

Macheda's agent Giovanni Biaconfirmed Bologna's interest and said: 'Bologna have asked for him but we have to evaluate thing with ManchesterUnited.

'I have a telephone appointment with them, but it will be difficult for them to let him go. If they will do it would be on loan.'
