Berbatov's got the shakes

Dimitar Berbatov admits he still gets the shakes before some Manchester United games, such is the club's magnitude. The £30million man is still trying to win over some Old Trafford sceptics but his 14 goals this season have undeniably played a part in what has been another imperious campaign for the champions. Berbatov has an ice-cool image but the Bulgarian insists his laid-back approach on the field is not always mirrored off it. "I am still nervous but, when you play for the biggest club in the world, you are sometimes shaking before you go on the pitch," said Berbatov. "Sometimes I show it with my hands or by screaming on the pitch but sometimes it's the other way around." While the likes of Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez are cult heroes amongst the United faithful, Berbatov has at times struggled to convince of his full commitment to the cause. Low key celebrations have only added a further mystique to Berbatov's persona but the former Tottenham hit-man is keen to dispel such misconceptions. "I know people sometimes say I don't mind what happens but, trust me, I feel it very hard. "If I don't show it on my face, inside I'm a really happy guy. "Sometimes I get frustrated with myself because, in some games, I haven't shown my 100 per cent. "Everyone has the right to an opinion. Half the people might like me, the other half might not - I just try to make the non-believers into believers." Meanwhile, United have handed a one-year deal to Belgian defender Ritchie de Laet. The 20-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in a loan switch from Stoke City in January and has now committed his long-term future to the Manchester giants. "I spent 15 minutes in the manager's office and he was very pleased with me," he said. "I could be on the bench against Hull."
