Berba not keen on penalties

Dimitar Berbatov has admitted he may turn down the chance to take a penalty in the UEFA Champions League final. The Bulgarian missed a spot-kick in the FA Cup semi-finals as Manchester United lost out to Everton. Rio Ferdinand's penalty was also saved by Tim Howard in the Wembley shoot-out but Berbatov received harsher criticism for his weak effort. The striker admits he is still haunted by the miss and would have doubts about taking another penalty against Barcelona on Wednesday. "It hurt a lot. It's very difficult when you make a mistake and everyone is trying to attack you," he said in the Daily Express. "I'm not sure I'm going to (take a penalty). Let's hope it's not going to get to that." Unrealistic Berbatov has not proved to be a popular figure with all United supporters in his first season at Old Trafford. Having made a big-money move from Tottenham last summer, Berbatov does not believe the expectations have been realistic. However, he insists that his main priority will always be to impress manager Sir Alex Ferguson rather than anyone else. "If I have to say something personal about my season, then it is always pressure," he explained. "I'm a realistic type of guy and my biggest critic. I know when a club pays a lot of money for a player the expectation will be higher, even if it's ridiculous sometimes. "I'm used to that and know everyone is expecting even more from me. "But in the end it's only important what the boss is going to say to me, if he is happy or not. "If he says he is not, then I need to work to improve."
