Karim Benzema has made it clear that he intends to stay at Lyon for one more season.

The 21-year-old striker has been linked with some of Europe's top clubs over the last few months, with Manchester United, Inter Milan and Barcelona all reportedly interested in securing his services.

Benzema had previously stated that he would not make a decision on his future until he had seen how Lyon fared in the UEFA Champions League this season.

The French champions crashed out of Europe in midweek as they lost 5-2 to Barcelona in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

However, Benzema maintains that he will not look for a move away from Lyon before next summer's World Cup.

"My future? I will remain at Lyon," Benzema told reporters.

"I have to reach new levels. I am fine at Lyon, where I am well surrounded. I still have time, until the next World Cup."

A lot to learnBenzema insists he is happy at Stade Gerland and does not feel he needs to leave at this stage of his career.

"I prefer to go on working here," he explained. "I will go on growing at Lyon.

"It is only my second season as a first-team member, and I have to learn a lot of things, both on and off the pitch.

"I will do my best to go on improving, with the help of my team-mates.

"I still have time for great clubs, moreover Lyon is a great club. Actually I have always wanted to stay."
