Benitez waits for mistakes

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez believes that Manchester United "will make mistakes" after his Liverpool side kept their title dream alive with a 3-0 win over Newcastle. The Reds cut United's lead at the top to three points after first-half goals from Yossi Benayoun and Dirk Kuyt and a late header from substitute Lucas gave them a comfortable win at Anfield. But with Xabi Alonso hitting the bar twice and Steven Gerrard once, it could have been an even greater humiliation for Alan Shearer's men, who had Joey Barton sent off for a reckless challenge on Alonso. Benitez said: "There were a lot of positives from that victory. We could have scored more and we are closer again at the top and still pushing. "Manchester United are a good team with good players, and they will need to make two big mistakes to let us in. But I still believe they can be caught and they will make mistakes. "All we can do is to continue to win our matches and see how they handle pressure. We must win all our games to see how that effects them at the top."
