Beginning to impress: Guardiola searching for the perfect start at Barca

Pep Guardiola admits he has already exceeded the expectations he had at the start of his first season in charge of Barcelona - but insists he is still desperate to raise the bar higher by beating Manchester United in the Champions League final tonight. The 38-year-old has already completed a domestic league and cup double in Spain and now says he can't wait to pit his wits against Sir Alex Ferguson in Rome's Olympic Stadium. 'I would never have imagined this at the start of the season,' he said. 'I wanted to do a good job but it's too much. 'To win the league and cup in my first year and now to fight to be the best team in Europe is magnificent. We've had plenty of time to prepare for this game and we're in the right frame of mind. We are here to win. 'United are a great team and it's a pleasure and a privilege to play them,' Guardiola added. 'I've heard it said they don't attack, they counter-attack, but if we don't play well we can expect them to come at us from the off.
