Arsenal manager Wenger slams Manchester United's domination of PFA awards

Arsene Wenger has hit out at the PFA player of the year award nominations after none of his Arsenal players made the list. Manchester United dominated with five players - Nemanja Vidic, Edwin van der Sar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand named while Liverpool's Steven Gerrard is the only representative from outside Old Trafford. But Arsenal boss Wenger, who is unbeaten in his last 18 Premier League games, said: 'The decisions are all made in February. The players who are rewardedare those who played well until February. 'A player who has been outuntil January has no chance to be voted but he can still be veryinfluential for the rest of the season.' 'Now is the most important time of the season - April, May - so these awards just reward the players of the first six months of the season. 'If they vote in May, I hope some of my players would be in there.' But United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hit back. 'Arsene can't just talk about the last two or three games. Maybe, in fairness, they should vote later. But we have had some outstanding performers this season,' he told The Sun.
