Louis van Gaal's Manchester United have completed a deal to bring highly-rated Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan to Old Trafford, according to reports in Italy.

Gaitan has been linked with a move to Manchester on numerous occasions in the past but these latest reports may finally come to fruition. Italian football expert Gianluca DiMarzio has claimed that a deal in principle between United and Benfica has been agreed, with both clubs now working on finalising the move.

Any deal to bring Gaitan to Old Trafford will likely involve United outcast Luis Nani going the other way, plus cash. Nani was sent on loan to Sporting Lisbon last season as part of the Rojo deal and has been told by Louis van Gaal he is free to leave the club.

DiMarzio also claims that a deal for Gaitan MAY be dependant on United's record signing Angel Di Maria leaving the club. However, the journalist goes on to claim van Gaal could sanction a move for Gaitan even if Di Maria stays with the Red Devils, which would be the more likely scenario with Di Maria committing his future to United today.
