Are Manchester United set to break the transfer record again for Gareth Bale?

According to reports in Spain Welsh superstar Gareth Bale is not happy with life at Real Madrid despite winning two Champions league winners medals. It is suggested that Bale is unhappy with President Florentino Perez because he reneged on his promise of a news contract and higher wages which are closer to what teammate Cristiano Ronaldo earns. The Welshman’s issue with coach Zinedine Zidane is because the Frenchman’s promise of a more prominent role in the team has not come to fruition.

When Real Madrid lured Gareth Bale away from Tottenham in September 2013 for a world record fee of £86,000,000 , the Santiago Bernabeu side attempted to play down the record breaking fee in an attempt to keep Cristiano Ronaldo happy.

The Portugal international had previously held the world record transfer fee following his €94m move from Manchester United and Madrid feared losing the status to his new team-mate would irk Ronaldo.

There have always been rumours of discontent between Bale and Ronaldo especially after Ronaldo showed his frustration on the pitch in front of thousands in the stadium and millions on TV when Bale scored from his rebound against Levante in 2015. This turned to fury when Bale deflected a Ronaldo shot into the net for his second of the match. This caused a media storm and was described by former England striker Gary Lineker as "bizarre and unhealthy".

Spanish press suggest Bale is frustrated by the apparent favourable treatment that Cristiano Ronaldo seems to get at the Spanish giants. Bale was bought by the club as a player for the future, he is now 27, and in his prime and 4 years younger than Ronaldo.

Bale became frustrated after being taken off during the 1-1 home draw with Villareal on Wednesday, a game where victory would have meant 17 La Liga wins on the trot and broken Barcelona’s record, when he felt he had performed better than Ronaldo during the match.

With the Portuguese star not looking like he is going anywhere it is suggested bale is eyeing up a move to another club while he is at his physical peak and his agent Jonathan Barnett has been flirting with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester united team.

Signing Paul Pogba back from Juventus in the summer for a world record fee of £89,000,000 proves that United are not scared of opening the cheque book. Mourinho wants to build an English team of Galatico’s and Bale fits the bill perfectly.
