Adidas to fund massive bid to bring Messi to Old Trafford

According to reports in Spain the football legend is going to be a Red Devil next season with Adidas planning on funding the move to bolster their commercial interest in both United as shirt sponsors next season and Lionel Messi.

As celebrations of a new deal go would think a bottle of bubbly would have sufficed but Messi bursting out of a cake wearing the new Adidas emblazoned United shirt seems to be more what they had in mind which I am sure would be met with more than quite applause.

Messi has been the subject of intense speculation following his alleged falling out with the new Barca boss as well as his activities on social network and admission that he didn’t know where he would be playing next year:

“I am not sure where I will be next year.

"I have always said that I will end my career at Barcelona but as Cristiano said: ‘Only God knows the future.’ Things in football can change overnight.”

Messi has been linked with a move to Manchester City but Pellegrini was guarded when asked directly about a possible move saying: “It is difficult to think of Barcelona without Messi.”

Messi does have a buyout clause that according to the Mirror is around the €250m mark and it seem unlikely that anyone would seriously consider spending that kind of money without guarentees and a strong commercial model to make the move pay off.
