AC Milan and Barcelona chase Manchester United's £25m Vidic

Manchester United face a battle to keep hold of defensive kingpin Nemanja Vidic, with AC Milan and Barcelona eager to sign him. Sportsmail revealed last month that United had concerns as Vidic's wife Ana has struggled to settle in Manchester and is keen on moving away from the city to a better climate. Now Milan and Barca hope to capitalise on the Serb's predicament and tempt him away with a bumper £25million deal and the benefits of a new environment. United will resist all offers for the 27-year-old, who has just enjoyed an outstanding season. He is pivotal to their plans and hugely popular with staff and fans alike, but club insiders say they recognise there could be a problem. Vidic feels that Old Trafford is the best place for his football career but is worried about the strain which could be placed upon that if his wife remains unhappy.
