A trade union representing referees wants Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to apologise for his recent comments about Martin Atkinson. Fergie could be staring another FA charge after criticising Atkinson's performance in United's defeat at Chelsea on Tuesday.Don’t know what they are banging on about really, all he did was say that the game was not overseen by a "strong referee".Ferguson wasn’t very pleased with Atkinson after Chelsea's David Luiz was not sent off after a challenge on Wayne Rooney, all the player received was a yellow. "You want a fair referee, or a strong referee anyway - and we didn't get that," Ferguson said.  "I must say, when I saw who the referee was I feared it. I feared the worst."Alan Leighton, the national secretary of the union Prospect, reckons that Fergie is getting at the integrity of Atkinson and wants him to say sorry.Leighton said: "The idea you can have referees who are biased towards one side or another, at any level, is one that causes great damage to the game."
