The big midfielder faces tests on a knee problem which has forced him to pull out of Ivory Coast?s African Cup of Nations qualifier with Burundi on Saturday. Toure was substituted with the knock in Sunday?s win over Newcastle, and released for international duty, but has since left the Ivorian squad. He would be missed in the Blues midfield if the injury rules him out, having played a crucial role in helping them to second place in the Premier League. And his performances have shown, according to Brian Marwood, that he is worth every penny of his reported £200,000-a-week salary. The midfielder joined the Blues in a £24m move from Barcelona, and is believed to be the highest paid player in Premier League history. His wages have again been questioned after City last week announced a staggering £121m loss. But Marwood, the Blues' chief football administration officer, says signing the Ivory Coast player was a good bit of business. ?Yaya can play centre-midfield, centre-half, attacking midfield, defensive midfield, he's a quality player. When we knew he was available, it was a no-brainer,? said Marwood. ?Everybody has become obsessed with what footballers are earning. We are comfortable where we are. ?The feeling was we needed players of presence, quality, with a winning mentality to bring that culture to the club. ?Patrick Vieira and Yaya have that. Micah Richards for example, is an emerging young player. To have him alongside Patrick, Yaya, Kolo (Toure) every day, in the changing room, on the pitch, is invaluable.? Do you think Yaya is proving good value? Have your say.
