Wright-Phillips charged with violent conduct after Delap clash

Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.

The charge relates to an incident between the 27-year-old and Stoke's Rory Delap during City's 1-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, which was missed at the time by referee Martin Atkinson.

Wright-Phillips lashed out after Delap had first fouled him and then kicked the ball at him as he lay on the ground, leading to a red card for the Stoke midfielder but no punishment for the City man.

Wright-Phillips has until 6pm tomorrow to respond to the charge.
