WORLD CUP 2010: Joe Hart unfazed by uncertainty in battle for England jersey

02 June 2010 08:28
Joe Hart insists it is not a problem that England's goalkeeping trio are still unaware who the World Cup No 1 will be.   [LNB]Current favourite Robert Green started against Mexico recently and David James got the nod for Sunday's victory over Japan.   [LNB]However, on both occasions, Hart was introduced as a second-half substitute, which has only added to the uncertainty.   [LNB] Keeping it interesting: Hart (left) and James (right) are giving Capello a tough decision to make ahead of next week's opener against the United States[LNB]Manager Fabio Capello is giving little away, repeatedly insisting it is too early to make up his mind. [LNB]To some it would seem like unnecessary confusion. To Hart it is a sign that Capello wants to keep all three men on their toes.   [LNB]'It's not that difficult not knowing,' he said. 'From working with the manager on a few occasions now you have to respect that's the way he's done it throughout his career, and he's had a very successful career.   [LNB]Big shout: Green is favourite to face the USA[LNB]'He's the manager and he does it his way. There are three of us vying for the same spot, but we've got every respect for each other and we'll all back whoever ends up No 1.'[LNB]Although he is not ready to settle for a back seat, Hart accepts merely being in South Africa is a major step forward.   [LNB]His presence in the 23-man squad Capello announced was fitting reward for an excellent season at Birmingham, where he spent the season on loan from Manchester City.[LNB]But, as someone who spent his youth watching the World Cup on TV, it has taken some getting used to that he will actually be part of it.   [LNB]'Just going to the World Cup is really exciting,' he said. 'I can't really believe it. It's crazy, you know? I can't say I've even dreamed of it because it has come so quickly.   [LNB]'I was quite happy watching the World Cup on TV and being part of the vibe back home because it is such an exciting time.   [LNB]'Everything stands still for the games. If I wasn't in the squad I'd be cheering England on as a fan, so to be part of it is so exciting, I can't really put it in to words.'[LNB] Complete lowdown on all 32 squads in the frame for South AfricaRough justice!
