Wilfried Bony is happy to be on the Champions League scoresheet - but his prime target is ensuring Manchester City power through as group winners.
Bony was on target as City secured their place in the knock-out stage of the competition with two games to spare with a brilliant 3-1 win at Sevilla.
The goal was the 26-year-old's first in the competition that attracted him to City and was much welcomed after recent criticism from fans.
But Bony is not overly concerned about his own situation and just wants to make sure City, having moved top of Group D, now go on to cement that position.
The Ivory Coast striker said: "It is good for me to score and for the team to win. That is why I am here. I am just working hard, trying to score the chances I get and to win the game.
"It was good for confidence, every time you score you get confidence, but the most important thing for me is to work hard for the team and for the team to win.
"So we are first in the table now. We just have to continue that and try to continue the winning run for the next round."
City were at their blistering attacking best in the early part of the game at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and took an early grip with two goals in the opening 11 minutes.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini had surprisingly named in-form Kevin De Bruyne on the bench but his deployment of Fernando in a deep role paid immediate dividends.
Fernando's presence allowed Fernandinho to get forward and, after twice going close, he set up the opener for Raheem Sterling and then headed in the second after a Bony shot was saved. Jesus Navas then hit the post against his old club in a stunning start by City.
Benoit Tremoulinas did reply for last year's Europa League winners, and Joe Hart produced a fine save to deny Timothee Kolodzieczak an equaliser, but Bony's 36th-minute effort gave City a control they did not relinquish.
Bony said: "It was a very good performance from the team. We came here to win, but we knew they were good on the ball so we just had to wait for them and try to counter, because we have fast wingers. We used the space and it was perfect for that.
"I think we have done a grand job and we are happy about what we have done."
City now travel to struggling Aston Villa - under new management with this week's appointment of Remi Garde - on Sunday looking to maintain their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League.
Pellegrini, having been pleased with how his change of system worked, wants to see more of the same at Villa Park.
He said: "I think we must continue with the same personality as this and work the same in Europe and the Premier League. I don't divide the competitions. I have a team and I want to play as we did in Seville."
