Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been charged with improper conduct following comments made about referee Stuart Attwell after the Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester City.[LNB]Martinez was incensed following the game at Eastlands on March 29 and criticised Attwell's decision to send off defender Gary Caldwell as his side went down 3-0. [LNB]Martinez has until April 22 to respond to the charge. [LNB] Hot water: Martinez has landed himself in trouble[LNB] [LNB] The Latics boss said at the time: 'We are all human and make mistakes but to give a decision after something you don't see is lying. [LNB]'You are making it up. And that is hard to take. It's a real injustice. [LNB]'To give a red card, you have to be certain. Then you are looking at the replay. There is no way it is a red card offence. [LNB]Flashpoint: Caldwell walked for this challenge on Carlos Tevez[LNB]'Gary said he went in really strong and got the ball. Carlos Tevez saw it,  jumped off the ground. He's the one who left both feet. The referee said he saw  Gary with both feet off the ground. But Gary only went in with one foot. [LNB]'It was a key moment. Until then, we were coping. It really cost us and the game went away from us.' [LNB]The Football Association then asked manager Martinez for his observations about his controversial comments giving him until April 6 to respond.[LNB]Martinez subsequently said he would not be appealing against the decision or Caldwell's three-match ban because Attwell's interpretation of the incident had changed.
