Wayne Rooney: 'Vincent Kompany deserved red card, don't blame me'

Wayne Rooney insists he played no part in Vincent Kompany's dismissal in the fiery Manchester derby.[LNB]Both Rooney and Rio Ferdinand have backed referee Chris Foy's decision to send Manchester City captain Kompany off during United's pulsating 3-2 victory in the FA Cup third round.[LNB]The 25-year-old Belgian faces a four-match ban after receiving a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Nani - although replays show he played the ball first. [LNB]City have lodged an official appeal with the FA and will discover by 6pm on Tuesday if they are successful.[LNB]Rooney, who scored twice in the match and has been accused by Roberto Mancini of getting Kompany sent off in the 12th minute, tweeted: 'Funny how people think i got kompany sent off. Im not ref. i didnt give red card. But it was a clear red card. 2 footed tackle.'
