25 November 2012 18:16
TEAMtalk rates the players' performances from Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Manchester City in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. CHELSEA PETR CECH: Made a couple of decent stops, one late on from Matija Nastasic's close-range header, but was not really tested by the misfiring City attack - 6/10. CESAR AZPILICUETA: The Spanish full-back helped keep a strong defensive line, but also got forward well in support of attack - 6. BRANISLAV IVANOVIC: A solid display from the Serbian against Edin Dzeko. Marshalled the Chelsea defence and also produced a couple of powerful runs - 7 DAVID LUIZ: Brazilian was up against Sergio Aguero and stuck to his task well throughout, also his usual attacking threat from set-pieces - 7 ASHLEY COLE: Another solid display from the England left-back, who remained a threat on the overlap - 7 RAMIRES: Recovered from an early knock and enjoyed a running battle with Yaya Toure in the centre of midfield - 6 JOHN OBI MIKEL: Largely innocuous display from the normally combative Chelsea midfielder - 6 OSCAR: Full of running down the flank, but did not really produce the service up to Torres - 6 JUAN MATA: Only came into the match in bursts, and often picked out the wrong pass in the final third - 6 EDEN HAZARD: Not the most productive afternoon for the Belgian playmaker, who failed to link with the Chelsea attack and substituted in second half - 6 FERNANDO TORRES: Found opportunities limited as he chased a lot of hopeful long balls. Was well shackled by Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany - 6 SUBSTITUTES VICTOR MOSES (for Hazard, 71): Injected some fresh life into the lacklustre Chelsea attack, but had little opportunities in the final third - 6 ORIOL ROMEU (for Mikel, 79): Like-for-like replacement for Mikel, did not really make much of an impact - 6. MANCHESTER CITY JOE HART: England keeper flapped at one first-half corner, and tipped an angled effort from Ashley Cole over, but otherwise was rarely troubled by the Chelsea frontline - 6 PABLO ZABALETA: Solid display Argentina full-back, who helped prevent the supply line from Chelsea's midfield - 7 MATIJA NASTASIC: Serbian was not fazed by the big occasion and helped nullify the threat of Torres. Planted a late close-range header straight at the Chelsea keeper - 6 VINCENT KOMPANY: Captain's performance from Kompany as the Belgian kept close eye on Torres all afternoon - 7 ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV: Offered support down the flanks and tracked back well - 7 DAVID SILVA: Headed a good chance over in the first half, but otherwise did little to trouble the Chelsea defence - 6 YAYA TOURE: Battled well with Ramires in the centre of midfield, and looked to get things moving as quickly as possible - 6 GARETH BARRY: Quiet, but efficient performance from the England midfielder, who saw plenty of the ball if without making a major impact - 6 EDIN DZEKO: Good work-rate but did not really give Chelsea keeper much to worry about - 6 SERGIO AGUERO: Should have done better when headed straight at Cech late in first half, but had few other chances of note - 6 JAMES MILNER: Full of running up and down the channels, but failed to find a telling pass - 6 SUBSTITUTES CARLOS TEVEZ (for Dzeko, 68): Plenty of energy, but little opportunity to make a difference - 6 MARIO BALOTELLI (for Aguero, 86): No real time for the unpredictable Italian to make an impact, and was somewhat harshly booked for diving when flattened by Luiz - 6
