Toure glad to be off the mark

Manchester City skipper Kolo Toure is delighted to have opened his goal account for his new employers. The Ivorian centre-half, who moved to Eastlands from Arsenal over the summer, was the Blues' hero on Wednesday as he grabbed an extra-time winner against Fulham in the third round of the Carling Cup. He rose highest to meet a Martin Petrov corner with just nine minutes of that contest remaining to plant a firm header into the net off the underside of the crossbar. Toure was pleased to be the one to seal City's progress, but admits that his main focus at present is to ensure that Mark Hughes' side tighten up at the back. He told skysports.com: "I am delighted to score in the Carling Cup and open my account for Manchester City. It is a dream come true to score against a Premier League club with my new team in a cup competition. "My first job is to defend but if I manage to score and help my strikers, I will be very happy. "Fulham played well, and scored an amazing goal (through Zoltan Gera), but we showed that this team has the guts to come back after going down. "We now need to make sure that we stop conceding." City fell behind after 34 minutes at Eastlands as Gera lashed an unstoppable 25-yard volley past Shay Given. Gareth Barry levelled matters shortly after the interval, before Toure booked their safe passage into the last 16 of the competition with his late effort.
