Toure claims long-term contact
Kolo Toure claims he knew about a potential switch to Manchester City six months ago and that he received offers to move abroad before leaving Arsenal.
The former Gunners centre-back has become the latest player to join the ambitious project at Eastlands after completing a £15million switch to the North West.
Toure signed a four-year contract with City on Wednesday, but he has revealed that he was first aware of interest around the time of last winter's transfer window.
There has been speculation that the 28-year-old has moved to Manchester in order to join fellow ex-Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor.
But Toure insists that is not the case, telling a press conference shown live on Sky Sports News: "I think before Adebayor we knew.

"There was some talk about coming here. It's from six months ago."
Toure is the last of the 'Invincibles' Arsenal team, who went a league season without losing a game, to leave Emirates Stadium.
He accepts that it was the correct time to depart the Gunners and has revealed he received offers to move abroad, but insists he did not want to leave England.
"I was the last one in the 'Invincibles' team and I was expecting to leave Arsenal," said Toure.
"I think Arsenal are a really good team, but it was the right time for me to move.
"First I thought I did not want to leave England, even though other teams came in for me. But it was important not to leave for me and my family."
