This English trio coupled with the sale of City's dead wood can see them prosper next season

Manchester City have recently been linked with the English trio of Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley and Danny Ings. The bad news is that this could cost the Sky Blues as much as 100 million. But, the good news is that it could be exactly what they need. At that price the necessary clear out can be made that must be made. The sale of Jesus Navas, whose crosses either reach The Irish Sea or bounce off of the first defender to send the ball to Newcastle, will recoup a small chunk of that payment. The sale of Stevan Jovetic, who has seemingly suffered more injuries than scored League goals, will make up a larger amount of the money spent than Navas and further yet the sale of Yaya Toure, who has been either unhappy or unwilling lately, will bring even more of the money that could be spent on the trio back to Eastlands. Will those sales equal 100 million? That is highly unlikely. However, with Nasri’s future in doubt, and Dzeko’s all the same, The Citizens should receive enough of their money back in order to stay within the bounds of Financial Fair Play.

However, FFP aside, the triple signing, coupled with definite departures, would also lower the age of their squad dramatically. Currently they field the eldest starting 11 in The League. Additionally, their home grown quota would be beyond met and therefore if it were to all pan out as above the squad would not seem to weaken but in fact strengthen to a, not dramatic, but solid degree. Raheem Sterling has been vital to Liverpool’s play this season. We have seen this through his dynamism where his placement up front as a false number 9 has led to Liverpool’s most successful period this term. Ross Barkley has only one goal and two assists this year but in a Toffees side where almost every squad player has experienced a dip in form as compared to last year but this should not be too concerning. He is spectacularly talented. We all know this and the departures that could lead to his arrival should allow him to continue to develop in Manchester, unlike other former compatriots like Adam Johnson, Scott Sinclair and Jack Rodwell. As for Danny Ings, who is well sought after, Jovetic and Dzeko’s departure should provide him with the same opportunity.

Of course this scenario is speculation at this point. But, it is one that if it pans out could be good for all parties involved, despite what critics may believe. City is desperate for trophies and World Wide success. However, there has been no evidence that they do not want to achieve it in the right manner and while abiding by all the rules that have hindered them this season. Personally, I very much look forward to what happens because the prospect of this squad next year is exciting. But, whether or not things work out in this manner is still only hypothetical at best.
