The race for the Premier League; Manchester City's to lose?

August 17th will see the return of arguably the most entertaining league in the world, the Premier League.

For Manchester United its the start of a new era, David Moyes has taken over the reigns from Alex Ferguson. Chelsea see the return of ''the special one'' Jose Mourinho, and they have there own ambitions to take the Premier League back to London. But for me, Manchester City, under new boss Manuel Pellegrini are the team to beat this season.

There has been serious activity in this summers transfer market, with over £90,000,000 spent four top class players been brought in as Pellegrini launches his title assault

Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic have been brought in from Sevilla and Fiorentina respectively; two proven goalscorers in their respective leagues, and with Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko already vying for places, new boss Pellegrini has serious options up front for the new season.

Jesus Navas is another exciting player, brought in from Sevilla as well, he will bring something that Manchester City missed all last season, someone quick paced with the ability to run at defenders.

But the most important aquisition is the signing of Ferdandinho, brought in from Ukrainian Champions Shaktar Donetsk the Brazilian midfielder wasn't cheap at £30,000,000. But he is a box-to-box midfielder with great defensive qualitys, pace and strength, and he has an eye for goal, I beleive he will form a great solid midfield partnership with Yaya Toure.

These impressive quartet of signings coupled with Manchester United and Chelseas relative inactivity in the transfer window so far, is the reason why I think a blue moon will be rising once again come May.
