Carlos Tevez celebrates his hat-trickCarlos Tevez conjured up a magical hat-trick to send City sweeping back into fifth place last night. The Blues striker took his tally to 25 for the season by scoring all three in a 3-0 victory over stubborn Wigan, who lost defender Gary Caldwell to a red card. Tevez took out his shinpad bearing a tribute to his daughter after his opening two goals before jumping into the crowd to celebrate his hat-trick - a celebratuion that earned him a booking. The Argentinean ace said: ?All the goals I have scored are for the fans and the team. "It feels great to be here and get all this support and when I go on the pitch.? Goalkeeper Shay Given, who was largely untroubled despite the sticky encounter led the tributes to Tevez. "It was a bit of a scrappy first half and the manager let us know at half-time he wasn't happy - but we upped it a gear," he said. "Carlos was fantastic, he scored three great goals." The Ireland international goalkeeper hopes his team have what it takes to finish fourth in the table and claim a place in next season's Champions League. Given, whose team are two points adrift of Tottenham with seven games remaining, added: "We've got a lot of big games coming up and hopefully we can get across the line. "It will be a tense finish and hopefully we can back tonight's result up with three more points on Saturday at Burnley."
