Carlos Tevez is determined to recover from a heel injury in time to face Blackburn on Saturday. The striker struggled with the problem during his Manchester City debut against Celtic on Saturday and Mark Hughes later admitted he was doubtful for the Premier League opener at Ewood Park. Hughes asked Argentina last week to leave Tevez out of their squad for Wednesday's friendly against Russia and that request has now been granted. Tevez will therefore have a week to work on his fitness in Manchester and he is grateful to Argentina for their support. "There has been good co-operation between my club and Argentina. That is important to me," he said in The Sun. "Now I have the chance to get into shape by spending a week with my team and being fit for Saturday." Tevez was unable to play during the pre-season trip to South Africa and admits it was a relief to take part against Celtic "It has been a difficult and frustrating time to my start at City," he explained. "It was special for me to play in the stadium for the first time."
