Tevez awaits City bow

Carlos Tevez will be forced to wait for his debut for Manchester City after a niggling ankle injury forced him out of the Vodacom Challenge final against Kaizer Chiefs. The Argentine completed a £25m move to City last week, and linked up with his new team-mates on Friday, but boss Mark Hughes does not want to risk playing the 25-year-old. "It is a shame for him, for us and for the South African public but unfortunately these things happen," Hughes told the club's official website. "Carlos has had a continual problem with his heel and we had it checked yesterday. He is probably going to miss a week of training." Despite the setback, Hughes is expected to have fellow £25m signing Emmanuel Adebayor at his disposal after the striker completed his move from Arsenal on Saturday. "We have checked Emmanuel out and he has looked good so far, his fitness levels are fine and he could play a significant part tomorrow," added Hughes. City beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 on Tuesday but will meet the South African side again after their penalty shootout win over rivals Orlando Pirates. The English outfit will also have playmaker Robinho back in their squad after the Brazilian joined up with the Blues in midweek having previously been on his honeymoon.
