Sunderland table £6million bid to sign Heiko Westermann

Sunderland have launched a £6million bid for Germany international Heiko Westermann.[LNB]The Schalke defender should have been in South Africa with the national side for the World Cup but unfortunately breaking a toe in his right foot during a pre-tournament friendly against Hungary.[LNB]However, that may work in Sunderland's favour as it allows them to begin talks without him attracting further attention from other clubs.[LNB] Wanted: Sunderland have tabled a £6m bid for German defender Westermann[LNB]Westermann had just battled back to form after missing a month with a knee injury in January. He can play in any position across the back four and is equally adept in midfield.
