Roque poised for tough fight

Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz insists he is happy to have plenty of competition for a starting spot. Santa Cruz was a long-term target of his former Blackburn manager Mark Hughes and he has now been joined by Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez, meaning at the last count Hughes could almost assemble a team of strikers if he so wished. And Santa Cruz said: "At any club there will be a lot of competition for a place in the team but that is what makes things exciting. "It will only make the club stronger and motivate people to do even better because they will want to show how good they are. "I am delighted to be here with the players we already have. I don't know who else is coming but anyone who arrives to make us stronger is very welcome. "I'm very proud to be here at the beginning of an exciting time, but of course I am confident about my chances of getting into the team."
