Manchester City new boy Roque Santa Cruz is excited about the potential of the club after sealing his switch to Eastlands. Santa Cruz has signed a four-year deal at City after they agreed a fee in the region of £18million with Blackburn for the striker. The Paraguayan will link up again with Mark Hughes at City and he is delighted to finally make the switch to Manchester after being linked with a move during the January transfer window. "Well it took a very long time to get me here and now everything is done I am very happy and delighted with everything and looking forward to the season," Santa Cruz told Sky Sports News. The 27-year-old admitted the chance to work alongside Hughes again played a major role in his decision to join City. He said: "It's very good I know the way he [Hughes] trains and the people who were with him and the fact that he's a winner and he wants to perform better and better. "So having him here has helped me a lot to decide and also of course that it is a great club with great fans I am looking forward to playing games here." TargetThe former Bayern Munich hit-man, who is City's second major signing of the summer following the arrival of Gareth Barry, is confident City can break into the top four. "The main idea of the owners and the gaffer is to bring the club as far as possible," noted Santa Cruz. "I think everybody is expecting a lot and the fact the club are signing big players, great players, also shows we want to be as good as possible. "I think everybody is talking about breaking the top four so once we get there, we need to keep looking forward and see what is the best we can get." Hughes believes Santa Cruz will prove a valuable addition to his new-look squad for next season. Important "It was really important that we signed him because it's an area of the squad that we have needed to address for some time," Hughes told the club's official website. "The qualities Roque brings will be of great benefit. "His ability in the air and his physical presence are things we have been missing. But he also has technical ability and good pace for a big man. "He is a very good player and one I know well from our time at Blackburn."
