1984: Born Robson de Souza in Sao Vicente, Santos on Jan 25. [LNB]1990: Signed by Beira-Mar, a local football academy, aged six before becoming a product of the Santos youth program, overseen by Brazilian legend Pele. [LNB]2002: Aged 18, Robinho signed his first professional contract with Santos Futebol Clube. Made 24 appearances in debut season and bagged nine goals as Santos won the 2002 Campeonato Brasileiro. [LNB]2004: Scored 21 goals in 37 league games as Santos cruised to another league title. Also made his Brazil debut in a World Cup qualifier against Bolivia. [LNB]Robinho's form was now attracting the attention of a host of European clubs. But his high salaries were also attracting unwelcome attention from South American gangs and his mother, Marina da Silva Souza, was kidnapped by gunmen at her Praia Grande home in November. [LNB]2005: La Liga giants Real Madrid sign Robinho for £16.5 million in July by agreeing to pay 60 per cent of the buyout clause in his contract belonging to Santos. Santos had initially demanded £28.5 million. [LNB]Played his first game on Aug 25 in a 2-1 win against Cádiz CF. He ended the season with 37 appearances and eight goals. [LNB]2006: Fell out of favour with Fabio Capello, the Real coach, as he failed to adapt to the Spanish game. But he pushed his way back into the first team and became a key member of the team that lifted the title in 2006/07 season. [LNB]2007: Robinho and Ronaldinho were both put on the bench for their respective clubs after missing flights from Brazil back to Spain. Newspaper reports described both players partying with other team-mates after Brazil's 5-0 win over Ecuador. Lifted the 2007 Copa America and named overall player of the tournament. [LNB]2008: A fall-out with Real left Robinho looking for a move to England. Initially, Chelsea looked set to sign the Brazilian before joining Manchester City for a British transfer record fee of £32.5 million on transfer deadline day. [LNB]2009: January 20: Manchester City confirm that the Brazilian had walked out of the club's training ground in Tenerife, sparking rumours that he was unhappy at Eastlands. Robinho subsequently flew back to Brazil to celebrate his 25th birthday.[LNB]January 28: Robinho is arrested and questioned by West Yorkshire Police and released on bail over allegations of a serious sexual assault at a Leeds nightclub on January 14. The player strenuously denies any wrongdoing. [LNB]
