It is understood the teenage victim made no complaint when she left the club in the early hours but police were told of the allegations that afternoon. Reports of the high-profile inquiry leaked out immediately but until yesterday's dramatic development nobody had been arrested in connection with the alleged rape. A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said last night: 'Within the last hour I have been told that a man has been arrested and is being questioned in connection with the alleged incident in January at a nightclub in Leeds. 'I can give no further details at the moment.' The girl, who goes to a university in Yorkshire, underwent medical and forensic tests and was interviewed on video at a special suite for rape victims. Police later visited the popular venue and carried out forensic checks in search of evidence. They are also believed to have seized CCTV footage to help the inquiry. The nightclub, which police have yet to name, holds up to 800 people and is a popular nightspot for wealthy footballers. There is a VIP area where the stars hang out. Police did not confirm that the man being questioned is a Premier League star. Last night West Yorkshire Police said the man had been released on bail pending further inquiries.
