Robinho's record price-tag will not earn him an automatic place in Roberto Mancini's Manchester City starting line-up.
The £32.5million Brazilian is yet to start a game since a woeful display in Mancini's first match in charge against Stoke - the first of four consecutive wins in all competitions for City under the former Inter Milan boss.
"How much a player cost is not important," said Mancini.
"What you pay only matters when you are in the act of buying someone. The important thing after that is the player working hard and playing well."
Meanwhile, Mancini has confirmed youngster Vladimir Weiss will be allowed to leave Eastlands on loan this month.
The Slovakian winger has been a regular on the bench for City this term but actual time on the pitch has been harder to come by.
Recognising he is trying to earn a place at this summer's World Cup and realising opportunities will be even further reduced once the campaign reaches its critical stage, Mancini has told Weiss he can seek a move.
"It is possible Vladimir will go somewhere on loan," he said.
"He is a good young player who is going to be important to this club in the future.
"But he needs to play. We have not decided where though. That will be Vladimir's choice."
