Robinho questions Elano exit

Robinho has revealed his disappointment at Manchester City's decision to offload Elano. The Blues have sold the Brazilian midfielder to Turkish outfit Galatasaray for £8million, helping to recoup some of their substantial outlay this summer. Having struggled to hold down a regular role in the City first-team last season, his exit was widely expected. His former team-mate and international colleague Robinho has questioned the decision, though, believing his countryman still had a role to play at Eastlands. He admits he tried to dissuade Mark Hughes from sanctioning a deal, but was ultimately unsuccessful in his endeavours. Project "I am very sad to see Elano go because he was a team-mate and has been a friend for many years," Robinho said in the Daily Mirror. "I understand the decision but I always believed that he would be part of this project. I never believed the rumours and I will miss our dinners and meetings. "I wish and believe that Elano will be king at his new club. "City have made some great signings and it has been made complicated for some players. "But I have spoken many times with the coach and praised Elano but it was the decision of the club and impossible to change."
