Robinho, the Premier League's most expensive player, is due to report to police this week in connection with an alleged sex assault, just 48 hours before Manchester City face a crucial UEFA Cup tie against FC Copenhagen.

Robinho has to attend a police station on Tuesday under bail conditions imposed in January after the Brazilian's arrest as part of a 'criminal investigation' into the alleged attack in a Leeds nightclub.

Liverpool v MANCHESTER CITY: Dunne dilemma for City boss Hughes

The £32.5million star, who plays for City against Liverpool today, denies any wrongdoing but the ongoing case is an unwelcome distraction for City and under-fire boss Mark Hughes.

The club are mid-table in the Premier League and were held to a 2-2 draw in their UEFA Cup first-leg tie in Denmark.

Defender Micah Richards, 20, was arrested by appointment at a police station earlier this month after an alleged assault on an 18-year-old man in Greater Manchester on Christmas Eve. He was bailed until April.
