Barcelona may try to negotiate an 18-month loan move for Manchester City star Robinho.[LNB]Reports in Spain claim that Nou Camp boss Pep Guardiola is the only person holding up a deal to sign the Brazil forward in January.[LNB]It is claimed a fee has been agreed for the switch, but Guardiola is not keen to commit to a permanent transfer and would initially prefer to take Robinho on loan till the end of the season.[LNB] Pursuit: Barcelona are keen on Manchester City forward Robinho[LNB]The 25-year-old is not thought to be keen on what would be effectively an extended audition, so a longer 18-month spell would offer more security.[LNB]Alternative: Bayern's Franck Ribery [LNB]Guardiola would prefer to have the option of signing someone else next summer if the deal doesn't work out and the club could renew their pursuit of Valencia duo Juan Mata and David Silva, or Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.[LNB]There is no immediate rush for Guardiola to give his thumbs up to the deal, but the ideal time for the European champions to firm up negotiations could be during the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi next month. [LNB]Barca president Joan Laporta is due to be in the United Arab Emirates on December 16-19 and could meet representatives of City's owners.[LNB]Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has insisted he has no intention of selling his record signing and consistently denies that Robinho is unhappy.[LNB]And Barca captain Carles Puyol insists that signing him is not essential.[LNB]'He is a great player, but we have very good players in that position like (Thierry) Henry, Andres (Iniesta), Bojan (Krkic) and Pedro (Rodriguez) who can also play on the wing,' said Puyol. 'I believe that we have a very complete squad.'[LNB] Champions League failure won't wreck Manchester City, claims boss HughesNeven Subotic flattered by Manchester City talk but Borussia Dortmund defender rules out a move to EastlandsCrocked Van Persie likely to miss rematch with Man City rival AdebayorRobinho in limbo as Guardiola stalls on giving green light to Barcelona switchMANCHESTER CITY FC
