Robinho denies distractions

Manchester City star Robinho has rubbished suggestions that his on-field form suffered following accusations of sexual assault earlier in the season.[LNB] The Brazil international has been told he will face no charges after police ended an investigation into an incident at a Leeds nightclub at the beginning of 2009.[LNB]Robinho's form dipped in the New Year and critics implied that the 25-year-old was being affected by events away from football.[LNB]But the British-record signing, who scored his first goal since the end of last December when recently netting against West Brom, insists he was not distracted. [LNB]"The Leeds incident was a bad thing to happen, particularly taking into account I did nothing wrong," Robinho told Key 103.[LNB]Rumours"I carried on with my life and playing football as though nothing had happened.[LNB]"That is the way it was. That is the way it had to be. My lack of goals or form had nothing to do with that."[LNB]The former Real Madrid playmaker is also adamant that he has enjoyed his first season in the Premier League, despite rumours he is looking to quit City in the summer.[LNB]"The Premier League is very strong, physical football and I am not a strong player," he said.[LNB]Elano exit"But fortunately I was able to adapt quite quickly taking into account that I was used to playing a different type of football.[LNB]"I hope next year I will be even better because I will know what to expect."[LNB]Meanwhile, Robinho is keen for Brazil team-mate Elano, who has been linked with an end-of-season exit, to remain at Eastlands.[LNB]"Everyone who sees Elano knows he is a very good player," he added.[LNB]"He is an international with a lot of qualities and as a friend and a team-mate I hope he stays at City for many years to come."[LNB]
