Richards ready for Blackpool trip

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has declared himself fit for his side's trip to the seaside on Sunday.[LNB] The defender has been struggling with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss England's successful quest to reach the European Under-21 Championships this week.[LNB]However, happily for the 22-year-old, he has now recovered and should get a chance to build on his early-season form at Bloomfield Road as second-placed City become the latest team to try to deflate Blackpool's early-season optimism.[LNB]As with most visiting fans, it is sure to be a trip to remember for the Blues, although Richards admits a tour of the Tower and the Pleasure Beach is not that high on his holiday wish-list.[LNB]"I can't remember the last time I went for a day out to Blackpool," he told the club's official website.[LNB]"I've never been to the Illuminations, ever. I think I'd rather go somewhere I know is definitely going to be sunny."[LNB]Richards admitted his latest knock came at a bad time given the injuries Fabio Capello's senior squad had to contend with this week.[LNB]Capped 11 times by Steve McClaren, who made him the youngest defender to play for England when he faced Holland in November 2006, Richards has not made a single appearance since Capello took charge.[LNB]"It's a shame about having to miss the Under-21s, but they've got through to the finals without me so that's really pleasing," he said.[LNB]"England were also calling up players for the senior squad because of injuries, but that's just my luck - every time I seem to be doing well, I get a niggling injury that I have to shake off."
